Welcome from the PTO!

Welcome to the 2008-09 school year at Fiske! First we would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our new Fiske families and also welcome back our existing families. We have a busy year ahead both at Fiske and with the Wellesley Public School system and we look forward to a very positive year for both. The Fiske PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) is a group of Fiske parents and guardians who have volunteered for specific tasks, all which directly support Fiske. The goal of the PTO is to support the teachers and administrators to enhance our kids overall educational and social development. Participating in the PTO is a great way to be a part of the Fiske community by getting to know teachers, classmates and families.

The Fiske PTO has many great activities, events and programs planned for the upcoming school year. In order to fund them, we have a couple of important fundraisers during the school year. The first of the year is theWild West Roundup which is our school fair (with a Western flair) on September 20th. Wild West Round-up is our largest fundraiser of the year. We also have a Biennial Auction that will take place during the 2009-2010 school year, this is also a very significant fundraiser for the PTO.

 

 

The Fiske PTO supports many programs such as METCO, which enables children from Boston to attend Wellesley Public Schools. It is also the primary source of funding for the school’s curriculum enrichment programs which include things like field trips, many Creative Arts program and a Multicultural Festival. PTO funds are also used to cover the salary of a math specialist, fund library books, classroom technology, playground equipment, classroom supplies, as well as support other necessary school expenditures not covered by our school budget.

Our monthly PTO meetings are a great source of information regarding both Fiske and the entire Wellesley public schools and we welcome everyone to join us there.
